Who we are

Goodboy Atlas ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Carl as the sole data controller for the purposes of GDPR and UK GDPR. Privacy questions can be sent to hello@goodboyatlas.com or via the contact page.

Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the site:

• Aggregated traffic analytics (page views, country, device type) via Plausible (does not set cookies, but each page-view transmits your IP address, user-agent, and referrer to a third-party Plausible server for aggregation) and Google Analytics 4 (which sets the first-party _ga and _ga_* cookies and processes IP/UA). GA4 is configured with IP anonymisation. Both load only after you accept the cookie banner.
• Newsletter sign-ups: if you submit your email address, we pass it to our newsletter provider (e.g. Beehiiv). We never sell, rent, or share your address. You can unsubscribe with one click on every email.
• Contact and partnership submissions: when you email or use a form, we retain your message until your question is resolved.
• Account data (if you sign in): email address, the pet records you create, and a session cookie. IP addresses are hashed with a daily-rotated salt before storage — we never store raw IPs.

Cookies

First-party cookies we set after you accept the banner:

• Analytics: _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics 4) — distinguishes users and sessions for aggregate reporting.
• Authentication (only if you sign in): a session cookie used to keep you signed in. Functional / strictly necessary.
• Preferences: petmath:* localStorage keys store your theme, cookie-consent choice, saved pets, and similar UI state. Not transmitted to any server.

Third-party cookies set after you accept the banner:

• Google AdSense sets the __gads, __gpi, and (for personalized ads) the IDE / NID DoubleClick cookies. These identify your browser to Google's advertising network and may be used to personalize advertising across the web. Google's role and the cookies it sets are described in the Google Partner Sites notice. You can manage advertising preferences at Google Ads Settings and opt out of third-party vendor cookies via the NAI consumer opt-out.
• Newsletter provider may set a cookie on the page where you sign up to confirm your subscription.

You can reject all non-essential cookies via the cookie banner or its re-open link in the footer. You can also block cookies in your browser settings. The site will continue to function normally; ads will display as non-personalized, and analytics will not run.

Advertising

This site is supported by display advertising served by Google AdSense, a third-party vendor. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Until you accept the cookie banner, ads are requested in non-personalized mode (no profile-based targeting).

Some links on this site are affiliate links (primarily Amazon Associates). If you click a link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence our calculator math or article content. Affiliate links are labeled "Sponsored" or "Affiliate" and use rel="sponsored" per FTC guidance.

Your rights (EU and UK readers)

Under GDPR/UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access any personal data we hold about you (Article 15).
• Request correction of inaccurate data (Article 16).
• Request deletion of your data (Article 17 — with limited exceptions for legal compliance).
• Restrict or object to processing (Articles 18, 21).
• Receive your data in a portable format (Article 20).
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@goodboyatlas.com. We respond within one month of receipt as required by GDPR Article 12(3). Signed-in users can self-serve account deletion from their account page.

California residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information (we do not sell personal information). Contact us to exercise these rights.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
